Wall Street Is Burning Up the Planet. But Now We Are Rising Up!
We are living at a critical moment in history. If we don’t end fossil fuels in the coming years, so much that we care about will be lost. But Wall Street is continuing to pour billions of dollars into the coal, oil and gas which drives both climate chaos and environmental racism. We need a mass movement of people willing to take militant, nonviolent direct action to end financing for fossil fuels―and with it, end fossil fuels once and for all.
That’s why Climate First! has joined the Summer of Heat on Wall Street, a sustained campaign with disruptive direct actions all summer, which demands that banks, investors and insurance companies stop bankrolling the fossil fuel industry.

On the calls, we’ll hear from campaign leaders about their plans to organize direct actions every week in New York City targeting the financial institutions behind the fossil fuel industry. While the Summer of Heat is centered in NYC, organizers are hoping that their actions help inspire a wave of protest across the country, calling out the financiers behind climate chaos and environmental racism.
Last month, organizers announced plans for the Summer of Heat campaign with two major actions at Citibank, shutting down their global headquarters in NYC two days in a row. 53 people, who engaged in nonviolent civil disobedience, were arrested. Climate First! attended both actions, and we found them to be quite well-organized and inspiring. And these actions were just the beginning--starting next month, there will be similar climate actions every week.

On Monday evening, June 10, 2024, Climate First!, Inc. will hold its monthly Board of Directors meeting online. If you wish to see the inner workings of a small nonprofit working on the most critical issue on earth, and/or you want to consider serving as a Board member for the organization, join us.
