Climate First!'s 13th Annual Meeting
Climate First! will hold its 13th Annual Meeting (AM) virtually on Sunday, March 1, 2026, beginning at 12:30 pm EST. In the AM we will look at the nonprofit's past year, and how it will move forward in 2026, among other things.
Excitingly, the Keynote speaker for the meeting will be Iyla Shornstein, Political Director at the Center for Climate Integrity. She will talk about the fossil fuel industry's efforts in Congress and Republican-led states to secure immunity from climate-related lawsuits. If the legislation becomes law, the "liability shield" would be similar to what gun manufactures received in 2005. See the AM's "details", and/or RSVP below.

The legal immunity legislation could directly counteract the “polluters pay” legislation that is law in Vermont and New York State, and is presently being worked on in numerous other states, including Maryland. Climate First! is in the early stages of getting involved with a drive to pass a polluters pay bill in Maryland.
