The 40th annual Takoma Park Folk Festival is coming on Sunday, September 8, 2019, and Climate First! will be there again! With musicians at numerous stages, fun activities for the kids, local artisans, interesting nonprofits, and tasty food vendors, Takoma Park's iconic Folk Festival is always a well-attended community event.
In response to the impending climate crisis, young students around the world will be making their demands known this September during the week-long Global Climate Strike. Join Climate First! and others on Friday, September 20th, as we show our support for our Montgomery County, Maryland, "climate strikers" before they head to Washington, D.C. to demand climate action NOW!
In our supportive direct action, we will surround the Silver Spring, MD, Metro station entrance with a #ClimateStrike human banner, and hear from the young students. We'll then join the students in boarding a train to Washington, D.C. in order to attend the D.C. Climate Strike march, which starts at 11 am, at the White House.

Climate First! will be tabling at "Clarendon Day", an Arlington, VA street festival that has been around for over 20 years. The festival will have several music stages, a large kid’s area, arts and crafts, business and nonprofit exhibitors, delicious food from local and regional restaurants, Craft beers and Virginia wines, and lots more.

In support of the youth-led Global Climate Strike, the Extinction Rebellion DC, 350 DC, and other groups will be organizing to shut-down traffic in Washington, D.C. on September 23, 2019. They intend to block key infrastructure to stop business-as-usual, and bring the whole city to a gridlocked standstill.
Parents, workers, college students, retirees, and others are asked to skip work, school, and put-off other responsibilities to take part in a nonviolent direct action to convince our leaders to take action to address the impending climate crisis.
What: D.C. Climate Strike
