If Our Democracy Ends, There Will Be Little Chance to Save the Climate

As President Trump and his cronies continue to ignore or violate many of our democracy's norms and laws, an ever-growing share of the country's population strongly opposes the authoritarian excesses of the administration. And now, we the people will have another  opportunity to strongly push back with another "No Kings!" Day of Nonviolent Action. Join Climate First! and many others during a mass mobilization this coming Saturday, March 28, 2026. See "DETAILS" below.

This latest No Kings! nationwide event is lauding the First Amendment’s protection of free speech and the right to peaceably assemble, while strongly disagreeing with the Trump administration’s actions that have led to the deportation--and even killing--of American citizens in its immigration crackdown, and also the continuing DHS agency shutdown due to the president's opposition to needed reforms to ICE, and Border Protection. In addition, the No Kings! organizers criticize the administration for 1) threatening to take over elections; 2) defunding programs involving environmental protection, health care and education; 3) mismanaging the economy that has led to higher costs, while giving subsidies to the extraordinarily wealthy; and 4) engaging in numerous other unprecedented actions.

While Climate First! continues to press banks, and other financial institutions to end their financial backing of dirty fossil fuels and to fully support renewable energy, we also believe that fighting to protect our democracy is critical if we are to rein in catastrophic climate change. Therefore, we will be attending a No Kings! action on March 28th, that begins in Arlington, VA, and ends in Washington, DC; local folks, join us if you wish.

We need to build a powerful rejection of this country-wide crisis. To help do that, there are actions planned across the country, in major cities and small towns in every state: https://www.nokings.org/. The Day of Nonviolent Action will show that we--a growing majority--are taking action to stop the corruption and power grab.

Bring some friends and join with your community to create a show of strength against the oligarchs, who are destroying our democratic values and institutions. And be part of a national moment that turns the tide.
