Have you ever noticed the large amount of litter on our busiest roadways? Other than being an eye sore, does it matter if our streets are clean from plastic bottles and caps, cigarette butts, aluminum cans, and other trash?
Well, think about it. If there is a heavy rain in a town or city, the water (and the litter it carries) flows down to the nearest storm drain, and then often spills into a nearby stream. Eventually, the stream probably runs into a larger body of water, and later very possibly flows into our Chesapeake Bay. Thus, if we keep our roadways clean from trash, our state's water bodies will be healthier.
Join us on Saturday morning, October 7, 2023 for our latest cleanup of a section of E. Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland. All needed equipment (gloves, large plastic bags, "pic sticks", & other) will be provided as we make E. Wayne Ave, from Garland Ave to Sligo Creek Parkway, look its best.
