International Day of Climate Action

The climate youth movement, "Fridays For Future" (FFF), has called for a Global Day of Climate Action on Friday, September 25, 2020. On this international day of action, Climate First! will organize a virtual shoe strike demanding climate justice. While many people aren't willing to attend actual protests and rallies during the world-wide pandemic, FFF has been organizing shoe strikes around the world to encourage safe participation in its events. Please join us on Sept. 25th with your own virtual shoe strike to help spread awareness of how people on the front lines bear the brunt of the climate crisis.

Here's how to do your own strike for climate justice in 3 easy steps:

1. Grab some pairs of shoes--as many as you got--and place them outside in a spot without shadows. Is it raining? Move your shoe strike indoors;

2. Make a sign that speaks to some injustice related to the climate; and

3. Take a photo of your shoes and legible sign. Then post your photo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or other social media with a hashtag or two (eg. #climatejustice, #fridaysforfuture, #ClimateStrikeOnline).

From time to time, we'll gather-up some of the posts for climate justice, and share them on social media.
