As you likely know, there is presently a nationwide movement to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for what their products have done to the climate, and local communities in the United States.

As unprecedented heat waves, massive rainstorms, harmful polluted air, and other climate-amplified natural disasters continue to wreak havoc in the country this summer, over 30 cities, counties, states, and tribal nations have brought lawsuits against the fossil fuel industry, all in an attempt to make the companies help pay for the damages caused by climate change. In addition, two states (with others following in their footsteps) have passed "polluters pay" (AKA "climate superfund") legislation, so the companies that are responsible, pay their fair share.
Interestingly, fossil fuel companies are so concerned about the polluters pay concept becoming law that they have convinced their allies in Congress and numerous state legislatures to introduce bills that will give legal immunity to the companies from the polluters pay statutes and lawsuits. Utah became the first to approve such legislation at the state level, and numerous other states are moving in the same direction on the issue.

Fortunately, there is a nationwide campaign to defeat this potential legislative "gift" to the climate-polluting companies. And we hope that you can join the "No Immunity for Big Oil" campaign, and help in any way you can.
A quick first step in helping the campaign move forward involves signing the "No Immunity For Big Oil" petition. In addition, if you want to learn more about the above issues, sign up for the next monthly "No Immunity for Big Oil" national organizing online call, which is scheduled for September 10, 2026, at 3 pm EDT. Also, if you want to encourage your U.S. Congressperson to oppose the "legal immunity" bill--it's quite easy to do--or get involved in other types of political advocacy, check out this website.
In close, if you have any questions or concerns regarding the above, don't hesitate to contact us at Climate First!, Inc.-- [email protected] -- as we have been working on this critical climate campaign since late 2025.
Thanks for all you do to save the climate.
