Bank Customers Have Power! Let's Organize to Save Our Climate!

If you want to do something that could do a lot to address the climate crisis, read on.

Major U.S. banks are continuing to invest massively in climate-wrecking fossil fuels despite warnings from the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and International Energy Agency (IEA) that greenhouse gas pollution mitigation must start immediately. Climate scientists continually report that we don't have much time left to avoid a climate catastrophe.

The good news is that Climate First! and many other groups believe that we can get the climate-polluting banks to stop doing business-as-usual by getting the lenders' customers involved. Therefore, we and other activists are putting a lot of effort into a campaign called Customers for Climate Justice (C4CJ).

Think about it. Banks get 40% of their revenue from their retail business, that is, everyday customers. And if many of those customers start (politely, but loudly) demanding that their lender make strong efforts to reduce its climate pollution, the bank can't just ignore their clients' concerns. To do so, means that the company risks losing thousands of customers to its competitors.

So, join the C4CJ campaign to get the top four climate-polluting banks in the world--JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America--to start transitioning quickly from funding dirty energy to putting their billions into clean energy. If you are: 1) currently a customer of one or more of the above four banks; 2) willing to become a customer; or 3) opposed to doing business with the four banks but still want to help the climate, see DETAILS below
