The official U.S. launch of Extinction Rebellion is close! A direct action this coming Sunday, December 2, 2018, in Washington, D.C., will kick-off the drive to get the U.S. to enact far-reaching measures to address the climate crisis.
Activists, including Climate First!, will gather on Capitol Hill where they can sign a "Declaration of Rebellion" against the government for its inaction on global warming. Next, the group will march to the U.S. Capitol to declare a rebellion against the government. Finally, activists will convene the "first session" of the "People's Climate Emergency Congress" in the street at Constitution Ave and 1st St, NE. PLEASE BE AWARE: during this part of the action, trained activists may be arrested for refusing to leave the street.
