In honor of Earth Month, the City of Takoma Park (Maryland) will host a celebration of Earth Day in partnership with the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Co-op this coming Sunday, April 12, 2026. There will be activities spanning Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park, and TPSS Co-op from 10 am to 3 pm. See "details" below.

There will be fun and interesting things to do for everyone in the family, including community weaving, nature-themed arts & crafts, face painting, tree care demos, guided invasive plants removal walks, games, giveaways, snow cones, a clothing swap, bike repairs, and a bike rodeo. And Climate First! and other groups will be tabling at the Sligo Creek Park venue.
Join this local event which is part of an annual world-wide celebration to demonstrate support for environmental protection, conservation, and sustainability. The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, and it now includes a wide range of global happenings that reach 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
