Join with Climate First! and many other groups around the U.S. in a campaign where we are asking Costco to pressure Citibank--its credit card provider--to start slashing its massive investments in fossil fuels. For "details", go below.
Costco, the third largest retailer in the country, is beloved by many of its members. However, it has a credit card relationship with Citi, the second largest funder (of all the banks in the world) of climate-wrecking fossil fuels over the last seven years. In addition, the lender is presently the biggest U.S. investor in dirty coal. We believe that Costco should use its leverage with Citi (the lender has a very profitable credit card relationship with Costco) to try to get the bank to end its financing of new fossil fuel projects––or else Costco should switch to a cleaner credit card.
Over the next 1.5 months, help us spread the word as we petition outside various Costco warehouses in the Washington, D.C. area, basically asking the retailer's members/customers to urge the company to convince Citibank to do right by the climate.
